Center of Plant, Soil Interaction and Natural Resources Biotechnology

Mission and Objectives

The mission of the Plant-Soil Interaction and Natural Resources Biotechnology Group is to develop research lines in chemical, biological and microbiological science and technology for the sustainable production and quality of food in southern Chile.

Main Goal

To generate know-how in the chemical-biological processes which regulate the plant-soil interaction and in biotechnology for sustainable agricultural production, and to introduce the necessary innovation in the food area.

Main objectives

*To identify and develop chemical and biological processes which regulate the behavior of the rhizosphere

*To develop technology and nanothecnology related to soil nutrient recycling and the efficient use of agricultural waste.

*To elucidate and identify mechanisms associated with plant-soil systems that control the environment, oxidative stress and the production of antioxidants
